dear Moraymint, I have loved all your posts & all your comments in the Telegraph. I am a silent reader. I am sorry you will not now be in the House of Commons, very sorry. I wish you every good fortune. âdamask roseâ

Thanks very much for your thoughts, Ruth/Rose! I haven’t given up and I shan’t be going/staying away. Just taking a little time to reflect and decide how best to play a part in future …

Dear Mr Moraymint
Understandable, but please don’t make the pause too long. We Libertarians must not be silenced by “liberal” bigots.

whilst I understand your decision, I am worried that the whole manner of necessary debate, which you do so well, has been reduced to smearing people’s reputations. In all the time I have known you, its 40 years now old bean, the last term I would use to describe you is racist. I would describe you as someone who is prepared to debate thorny issues that the PC brigade block without realising that they are promoting racism because voices at the majority are not heard.

I shall miss your erudite observations in my mailbox…
Perhaps I ahould ramp up my occasional anti-EU posts on my blog at chiptheduck.co.uk

Completely understand your reason(s) for pausing, but do hope that we will see you again in the not too distant future. Keep the faith…

Roger. Shame, but perhaps sensible in the circumstances. I look forward to its return one day!

Thanks, Jerry. I don’t want to pause for too long. Writing is therapy for me. I made a mistake. I won’t do it again. I’m pleased I have family and friends willing to tell it to me as it is. That’s what friends are for, I hope/think.
Without blowing smoke up my own backside, I’ve been overwhelmed with supportive messages: on here, by email and in telephone calls (from Brexit Party people). However, I want to do justice to those of my friends and acquaintances – the vanishingly small minority, I have to say – who, by and large, concurred with Anas Sarwar MSP that I had displayed all the signs – in writing anyway – of being an Islamophobe and a racist. It’s on the basis of those accusations that I have to draw breath …

Just to clarify, I didn’t mean shame on Moraymint – self censorship due to family and other pressure is all too understandable. I meant shame that it has come to this in a country which once valued free speech.

Yes, I understand. However, I must accept that the use of intemperate and/or offensive language is self-defeating. So, a cooling off period makes sense. So does disciplining oneself to write everything, but everything in measured tones: much more effective! I’m responding to observations and advice from family and friends and am happy to do so. I keep saying here, it’s not the end of the world …

Dear Moraymint,
I know youâre taking a break but I did just want to send a quick word. I came across your blog through comments you made on The Telegraph site and you have been one of my go to commentators on this whole mess we find ourselves in- not just Brexit but the sinister new cultural control of our country. You have written some really eloquent, thought provoking pieces and at times when I have felt like there must be something wrong with me for not conforming to the accepted viewpoint they have really helped.
I was so pleased when you were chosen as a PPC and then so disheartened to read what happened to you. This is how they work, take anything they can completely out of context – that was clearly written at a very febrile time- and give you no chance to explain, no debate. I understand the BPâs decision on this, they were given no choice, but it makes me worry when the same stringent rules donât seem to apply to the other side. They are trying to bully us into submission.
I donât know if you have seen this interview below – itâs quite long but I thought youâd find it interesting. My every instinct tells me that we are right in what weâre doing so please keep writing sometimes, and letâs hope Boris can get us out of the EU anyway and then we can hopefully press reset on all of this!
Best wishes

Thanks ECAW. All I’m doing is pausing. As you’ve pointed out elsewhere (http://tinyurl.com/y5uwos95) there’s a debate to be had. However, for now, I’m letting the dust settle and the temperature drop!

Morning Moraymint
The internet has enabled good people like yourself to wake up a lot of
folk. I’m sure I speak for many when I say we are hugely appreciative of
your contribution to the process of our awakening.
The flip side of our growing comprehension is that it scares the NWO,
who are afraid we might become …resistant. So they are rushing us ever
faster towards the Apocalypse. But from what Steve Bannon said on Friday
evening it would appear that Trump is throwing a sabot into their
machinations. I have reservations about Trump but then, occasionally, he
does something so radical I just love the guy. With this latest move I
think things will now move fast: Gold jumped $60 in the past 24hrs. I
wonder how much longer Deutsche Bank will last.

My suspicion is that they will crash the system so fast that we will not
have time to organize a coherent resistance. I think it is already too
late for anything but for each of us to do his best. I don’t know if you
are aware of Asha Logos, he makes food for the soul. And reminds us, not
only of who we are but why we should refuse to go quietly into that long
goodnight.

Yes, thanks very much Robert.
I’m happy to admit that using intemperate/offensive language never helps one’s argument! That’s what I did on the subject of Islam and its impact on the British way of life. The posts have caused so much grief that a pause makes sense. I tried putting up a sort of confessional post (yes, yes, yes, I did use intemperate/offensive language) and then set the subject into a more measured case for national debate about an incredibly contentious and sensitive subject. That didn’t work either. That said, one of the followers of this blog – who himself blogs – referred me to this post which I found very interesting and illuminating: http://tinyurl.com/y5uwos95
Notwithstanding, I’d like to think that once we become a sovereign state once again we may indeed be able to have a sane, national discussion about Islam. For now, however, even to mention the word Islam can and often does bring down opprobrium on the speaker.

I have missed out on what happened MM, apologies. It must have been serious to cause you to do this but I hope you will be back as I will miss your insights. Have a relaxing break. Best of wishes to you and your family.

In essence, use by me (and others quoted by me) of intemperate/offensive language on one of the more incendiary topics of our time (http://tinyurl.com/y3cyoy3p). I didn’t and won’t seek to make excuses for my poor use of language. The offending posts were picked up by a journalist and referred to a politician. The politician labelled me ‘an abhorrent racist’. Being accused of being ‘an abhorrent racist’ and standing for election don’t go together too well. That was the end of that! It’s not the end of the world, of course; we all make mistakes. However, a pause to reflect makes good sense …

MM,
I’m not that unhappy for you about the disgraceful actions of the labour politician and the journalist. I reckon you dodged a bullet there. You will be much happier being a retired rock ape!

Enjoy your family.

Sorry to see this, but totally understandable. I really hope it is a pause and not a complete cessation and that, once you have gathered yourself, you will feel able to re-engage with us all. In the meantime, thank you for the efforts you have made to keep us entertained, engaged and informed. I for one will miss your insightful posts. All the very best for the future to you and your family.
With kindest regards.

Thanks Bill. I think I would struggle not to write in future ever again. However, a pause does make sense. Also, the lesson learned is a good one: if you’re going to put words in the public domain, use good and temperate English language. For me, writing is the way I try to understand the world around me, and I enjoy reading others’ reflections on the topics that interest me. It’s pretty innocent really, but there’s been a glitch! It’s not the end of the world. ‘Out of life’s school of war, what doesn’t kill me makes me stronger …’ – one from Nietzsche.

Desperately sad that it has come to this. I wonder when those who object to our British culture and way of life will be put back in their box and reminded that it is our country and whilst here you accept it even if you don’t like it. Empty vessels making the most noise comes to mind.

Dear MM,
There is also nothing to add. Others will be making similar points elsewhere. You put in a lot of work in analysing the EU’s shortcomings and this work still stands and will presumably remain accessible. You have done your stint on this battlefield and now others must take up the baton.
But, after a break, please do take time (not just a glimpse) over my Fuzzy Democracy, and think about it slowly. It involves paradigm change. I hope to be able to give some positive news on progress here soon.
For your information, I have another website: http://www.klasseveranwortung.de (go to EN for English) which deals originally with business ethics and much else. (I have five in all, for different readerships / topics.)
I also post sometimes atthe Radix think tank https://radix.org.uk/ which is remainer, but I debate there other issues. I only do stuff that no-one else or hardly anyone else is saying. For example, Universal Digital Income to spend on the BBC or Wiki or a local newspaper. But much else. Radix will tell you some more about me. When you have had a break you might consider entering again on a different tack. I am keen to find multipliers for Fuzzy D. but also for Universal Digital Income and you are a good multiplier. A multiplier has no commitments and does not have to tow a party line.
Take your time and enjoy the rest of the summer,
PAUL
