Yes, I suspect so! The Americans might be indebted (and some) but they’ll keep printing and keep servicing.
One wonders though for how long any socio-economic system (ours included) can really go on like this? It’s surreal. It’s unsustainable. It will result in “collapse’ in some shape or form, whether that collapse be overnight, or over a hundred years.
Complex societies have been here before. Complex societies come and go. Our complex society is going. The real and most interesting question for our children and theirs is what will replace that which is collapsing now? My own view is that we’re going back to the future. We’re slipping back to pre-industrial times, taking what knowledge we’ve gained meantime back with us. Some people call this ‘the ecotechnic future’. We’ll see. Or rather, our children will see … and live it. Their lives will be nothing like mine has been, nothing at all.
